Today was the FIOF exam, which was conducted at our Institute. I took part in part 1: optics, refraction, and instruments. Experience was fabulous. The exam interface was very user-friendly. Navigation was easy once the login was complete. The level of the questions was also really good, conceptual, demanded basic clarity of concepts, and really opened up the mind. This, I feel, is essential for any resident, as a postgraduate or a fellow, to have a strong and clear foundation. Special thanks to my Institution for making it possible for me to take this exam sitting at my familiar home pitch. This especially alleviates a major apprehension about traveling and staying in a new place, given the cost factor, and helps relax the mind. One can best dream of writing an international exam in one’s own place. All in all, a great experience; would encourage everyone who is eligible to give it a shot. Thanks to OF for bringing out such an affordable and convenient exam pattern to India.
