International Ophthalmological Fellowship Foundation Information Webinar

Join the Ophthalmology Foundation and the International Ophthalmological Fellowship Foundation (IOFF e. V.) to learn about fellowships for young ophthalmologists from underserved and low-resource countries. Thursday, 23 April 2026, 1-2pm Chile/ 4-5pm UTC/ 6-7pm Central African Time/ 9:30-10:30pm India Standard Time. Participate in a 3-, 6-, or 12-month observership for the opportunity to receive advanced training at leading ophthalmology host centers around the globe. Annually, 80-100 awards are available in 20 subspecialties. View the list of eligible home countries of candidates.

Faculty Development Webinar: Using Case-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning to Teach Professionalism and Ethics in Ophthalmology Residency Training

Professionalism and ethics are central to ophthalmology practice but can be difficult to teach through lectures alone. This webinar introduces how Case-Based Learning (CBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) can strengthen ethical reasoning, reflective practice, and professional behaviors in residents. Participants will explore practical strategies, sample ophthalmic ethical scenarios, and simple tools to assess and reinforce professional conduct in everyday training. African Council of Ophthalmology 2026

The second in-person African Council of Ophthalmology (AOC) Congress will be held 31 July – 2 August 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. This event aims to be the largest conference for eye workers in Africa, bringing together members from across the continent and across fields. The Ophthalmology Foundation will hold a symposium and you can visit our booth to learn more about our programs. Check back for more details.

Global Ophthalmology Summit 2026

Save the date for the Global Ophthalmology Summit (GOS) 7-9 August 2026 in Philadelphia. Meet the Ophthalmology Foundation to learn about opportunities in examinations, fellowships, faculty development, and accreditation. The theme for 2026 is “Innovation, AI, and Technology: Expanding Access to Healthcare Worldwide.” As the digital and technological landscape evolves, we are witnessing a paradigm shift in how care is delivered. This summit will explore how cutting-edge tools and artificial intelligence are not just advancing clinical outcomes, but are fundamentally expanding the reach of physicians, NGOs, and healthcare workers to underserved populations across the globe.

Faculty Development and Residency Training Program Accreditation Information Session

Learn about the Ophthalmology Foundation’s free online programs to that give ophthalmic educators to tools to improve their teaching skills and become better trainers. Additionally, learn how your residency training program can become accredited through our low-cost program that focuses on evaluating and refining programs to meet international standards.
